New Build Plastering and Dry Lining

Internal plastering, dry lining and external render for self-build homes, small housing schemes and apartment developments.

New-build family home with a white render finish

Quick answer

What plastering does a new build need?

A new build usually needs dry lining or wet plastering to external walls, plasterboard partitions and ceilings, skim or tape-and-joint finishes, beading to all corners and openings, and often external render. The work is sequenced around first fix and second fix services, and needs to be complete and dry before decoration and kitchen fitting.

For self-builders and small developers

On one-off homes and small schemes, we help plan the plastering stage properly: when the building needs to be watertight, what the electrician and plumber need to finish first, how long drying will take, and how that affects kitchen, flooring and decoration dates.

For housing and apartment developments

On larger developments we work plot by plot or floor by floor, with consistent finishes across every unit. Fire-stopping interfaces, party-wall linings and acoustic details are installed to the specified systems so they can be inspected and signed off.

FAQ

New Build Plastering questions

Can’t see your question? Contact us or call 07377 741264.

When should the plasterer start on a new build?

Once the building is weathertight and first fix electrics, plumbing and carpentry are complete and signed off. Starting earlier risks damage and rework.

Can you plaster new blockwork directly?

Yes. New blockwork can be wet plastered with a backing coat and finish, or dry lined. We will recommend the approach based on the design and programme.
